Riveroak Limited of Sevenoaks are supporting local football team Maidstone United Raiders by sponsoring the Gold Teams' strip for 2010/11. The Raiders are the disability section of Maidstone United FC – an FA Charter Standard Community & Adult Club which has been awarded ‘Ability Counts’ Status by the Football Association.
The Gold Raiders run a squad of 25 players and field A and B teams in the Kent PAN Disability Adult League. The League plays 7-a-side football and comprises up to 10 teams from around Kent and Sussex who meet for regular monthly tournaments at Ashford League Courtside Sports Facility.
The Gold Teams are enjoying a great season to date, with the A team currently standing 2nd in the league, and the B’s close on their heels at 4th. Maidstone United FC’s 1st team plays in the Ryman League and the Gold Raiders recently accompanied them to their Bury Town fixture. The club recorded a clean sweep with the 1st team winning their league match, and the Raiders A’s and B’s winning 3-2 and 3-0 respectively against Bury Town’s Disability teams.
Riveroak Director Tony Shepherd says: “These are exciting times for the development of Disability Football at Maidstone United and it’s great to play our small part … We’re so happy to be able to support the lads and especially proud of their success so far this year”
